Our Story
Roots & Whiskers began as a way to honor the quiet spaces pets leave behind, the ones that linger long after they’re gone. It grew from a love of natural materials, time spent outdoors, and the belief that remembrance doesn’t need to be grand to be meaningful. Sometimes, the simplest things hold the most weight.
Each piece is handcrafted using preserved moss and natural materials, with attention given to balance, proportion, and durability. Variations are part of the process, making every piece subtly different, just as every bond is.
This work is shaped by care, respect for imperfection, and the understanding that grief and love don’t follow a single path.
This work is deeply personal.
I share my life with animals who are family, companions who shape my days in small, steady ways. One of them was Carbon, a black cat who loved being outside more than anything. He spent his days in the grass, climbing trees, watching the world from quiet, elevated places. Nature wasn’t just a backdrop for him, it was where he felt most himself.
When I began working with moss, it felt like a natural extension of those memories. Moss carries the feeling of shaded paths, forest floors, and the places animals instinctively return to. It holds stillness. It holds time.
Preserved moss allows each piece to remain natural and lasting, without aftercare or maintenance. Its texture and variation create a grounded place for memory, something tactile, calm, and alive in feeling, even when it no longer grows.
Every piece reflects the outdoors we share with our pets: walks taken together, time spent in the grass, moments of quiet companionship.
Roots & Whiskers is meant for pet owners, and for the people who support them through moments of joy, change, and loss. Veterinarians, trainers, and caregivers often stand alongside families during meaningful transitions.
